This nifty little beer can stove is simple to make out of recycled materials (one aluminium beer / soft drink can), is portable, runs on widely available fuel and will have your water boiling surprisingly quickly!
The fuel is pure alcohol. This is available in a lot of chemists around the world and is also used for cleaning electrical circuits so may be found in hardware / DIY stores. It comes under a bunch of different names including:
Rubbing alcohol, USP, Surgical spirit, denatured alcohol, ethanol, ethyl alcohol, or isopropyl alcohol, propan-2-ol, IPA, isopropanol.
Here’s how to make the stove:
And here’s a summary of the steps – so simple!
Take one beer can. Cut away the top. Slice it into thirds and discard the middle third. Crimp all around the top third. Make a small hole. Put top third inside bottom third. Add alcohol. Light.
